DAY 9: 28 Black Owned Brands I Love – Lux K

Lux K is honestly my nail tech (in my head) 😭 Her work is so inspiring. She’s based in Brooklyn, NY and focuses on nail health, gel extensions, and custom nails. Looking at her nail designs is like art to me, and I’m a lover of fine arts. Since I was a teenager, I loved doing my own nails and experimenting with different colors and designs. Two years ago, I bought my first gel set and UV light and have had so much fun growing and shaping my own nails. My favorite is the almond shape because it looks the best on my hands, and guess what? Lux K specializes in that exact shape! Growing up, I never went to the nail salon, so doing my own manicure and pedicure always seemed natural to me.

When Lux K opened her online store last year, I was so excited to try her cuticle balm. It’s all natural, smells light and fruity, and can be used like a hand lotion. I’ve been using this cuticle balm it since July and have only made a small dent in it, so it’s certainly worth the money! A little goes a long way with this moisturizing balm and it actually keeps my hands soft. I use it twice a day and as someone with dry skin, it’s better than any hand lotion I’ve tried. I’m so happy it doesn’t run out quickly.

If you’re into at-home manicures I’d recommend this cuticle balm and checking out her press-on nail collection. You can purchase them pre-made or get them custom made and fitted. I look forward to getting some myself. Press-ons never really stayed on my nails, but I purchased the kit from Lux K, so I’m hopeful lol.

The kit I purchased includes a nail file, nail glue, and stickers for press-ons. If you’re someone who typically uses cuticle oil on your fingers, her cuticle balm will be much more moisturizing on your hands. The theme of her artistry is nail health and education, and I think that’s the most important part of a fierce, flawless manicure. One of the best parts is that she doesn’t use acrylics… at all!
