DAY 1: 28 Black Owned Brands I Love – The Honey Pot Co.

Happy Black History Month, peeps! One thing I’ve observed over the past few years is how supportive a lot of Black folks have been of Black Owned businesses. It’s wonderful to see new businesses launching and receiving shout outs on social media, because it shows our sense of community.

I personally find joy in purchasing from and trying these brands for myself. It’s one thing to support by promoting, but ultimately I want Black people to continually circulate our dollars within our own communities.

For the next 27 days, I’ll be sharing my favorite Black owned brands, my favorite items I’ve purchased with my own money, and my overall experience with the company.

As a menstrual health educator, coming across The Honey Pot brand was life changing. Not only are the menstrual products organic, but it was created by a Black woman! The creator of The Honey Pot, Bea Dixon, developed her products because she suffered from chronic bacterial vaginosis. I truly love her products and have nearly tried the whole collection. The Honey Pot products really resonate with me because the natural ingredients have helped my cycle and symptoms.

A few of my favorites include the herbal panty liners, sensitive foaming wash, and Super pads. I’d recommend them all! If you’ve never tried her products before, I’d compare it to Vicks Vapor Rub, for your vagina LOL. Honestly, the pant liners and pads have a cooling sensation that is unlike anything on the market. The herbs radiate a cooling sensation that relaxes the pelvic area, for me at least. It can be a bit strong at first, including the scent, but I say that’s just the power of the herbs she uses.

Outside of that, there are tons of benefits to using organic cotton menstrual products such as lighter bleeding, shortened periods, reduced cramping, less chemical exposure, and the list goes on. If you’re suffering from any irregular period or PMS symptoms, I’d suggest switching to organic pads or tampons right away. The Honey Pot even has menstrual cups, if you’re looking to give those a try.

Stay tuned for more of my favorite Black owned brands. For more information on menstrual health, period products, and natural remedies for dealing with PMS and period pain, follow me on Instagram @whatwouldjenneat. Thanks for reading!✨

  1. Love the idea of 28 days of black brands. I have purchased these and I really like them, my only complaint is I wish the wing part had some sort of liner block so things won’t leak over.
